Coming from a background of interest heavily lies in visual narrative, I seek to capture fleeting moments of feelings when embracing painting’s ability to flatten time and space into a still image. Having been fascinated by theater art, and attention to the shadow, my work become my space to contemplate and reflect on stories that are sometimes untold and unheard, like shadow which is often being left behind by our sight. The recurring themes often revolving around theatrical performances, fables, memories and the mundane, they serve as a staged background where the narratives take place quietly inside. The painting process enables an intimate choreography between the illusionist and pictorial space to compose a dreamlike landscape, balanced on the edge of reality, just like the way the mind wanders.
